So you finally have your wedding all planned out, yay! It’s time to think about the honeymoon. After months of planning, stressing, and organizing the big day, you really just want to get away and spend some time with your significant other to celebrate your new marriage together.

Maybe you really don’t want to spend a lot of money or go too far, so where can you really go to get that same vacation feel while staying close to home? There are some really great places around the area or within a few hours that pamper you and your love to allow you both to relax.

1. Inn Walden
The only 5-star resort in the state of Ohio, the Inn Walden is located in Aurora. Kate Dobrzeniecki, the Director of Operations at the Walden Inn, wants you to really feel at home during your stay.

“We really focus on customizing each stay, whether it be ordering in flowers or making sure the couple has their favorite snacks or bottle of wine,” Dobrzeniecki said.

There are many things to do at the resort and in the surrounding area.

“There are trail rides, shopping, boutiques, restaurants, the metro parks, and we even have bikes that the guests can take to explore,” Dobrzeniecki said.

The Inn also has world class yoga and spa facilities. If you are looking to stay pretty close to home, but want a retreat, the Inn Walden is for you.

2. Nemacolin Woodlands Resort
Nemacolin is located in Farmington, PA and has a ton of fun, off-the-beaten-path activities to offer their guests.

Ever since Nemacolin was featured on The Bachelorette television reality show in 2016, the resort has become known for their romantic setting.

“A unique feature we have is the option for a wedding registry, where they can pick items they need or want, or people can even put money towards their overnight stay, a dinner, or spa services,” Mindy Bianca, public relations specialist at Nemacolin, said.

3. Wintergreen Resort
Located on the eastern slopes of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Roseland, VA, Wintergreen has 11,000 acres to explore. Betsy Dunkerton, who handles the website information at Wintergreen, has the perfect accommodation in mind for honeymoon couples.

“Wintergreen is pretty nontraditional because we are privately owned, but with a honeymoon we typically recommend a 1 bedroom, similar to an apartment, that looks over the mountains, has a living room with a fireplace, and a private bedroom and bathroom,” Dunkerton said.

Secluded and surrounded by nature, there are plenty of activities to do in the outdoors.

“Our resort is stunningly beautiful, even just going for a drive to see the agriculture and orchards. We are also in the heart of the civil war area, so there’s many historical sights to see,” Dunkerton said.

Wintergreen is located about 6 hours from the Northeast Ohio area, just long enough to recount all of your wedding memories.

A honeymoon is a honeymoon, no matter how far you travel or how much you spend. Celebrating your new marriage is really just about you and your significant other, so wherever you decide to go, be sure to make the most of the alone time you get with each other.
